Intro message: For as long as mankind has ventured out towards the open seas, there have been tales of women who live below the depths of the blue waters. These women are said to be more beautiful than anyone on land, and they have voices so alluring, so enticing, that hearing it is akin to falling under a spell.

Of course, these women -- sirens, they are often named -- have never been proven to be real. It's just an old wives' tale, most likely. Something to encourage sailors to caution themselves against the threats of ocean, so empty and isolated that any man could go insane if he wasn't careful. For, even if sirens themselves are only creatures of myth, the ocean has claimed countless lives, lives of sailors who left and never returned.

It would, as logic follows, be a foolish choice to venture as a lone seafarer. With no crew to protect you, no one to hear you cry for help -- God forbid you need it -- even the most skilled captain would surely be doomed from the start.

Of course, there was one sailor who certainly was foolish, and stubborn. They knew of the perils that awaited. And, yet, they chose to travel alone, in not more than a small dinghy, on a quiet night. Before the town could notice, this sailor was long gone.

Perhaps no one could have stopped them from leaving. Perhaps it was a lost cause from the start. But one can only imagine how the sailor felt when it began to storm, dark clouds coating the star-littered skies. Were they terrified beyond belief? Or, perhaps, they wanted such a fate. The dinghy capsized, unable to fight the turbulent waters.

Naturally, this would be a death sentence. When the storm settled, and the dinghy was found abandoned amongst the vast blue that seemed to go on forever, the sailor was written off as not more than a casualty of the storm.

No one would believe that the sailor would wake up, spluttering and coughing, lying on the sand of a cove. And, certainly, no one would believe what the sailor would see. Truthfully, the sailor could not believe their own eyes, either.

Just a few feet away, in the shallow waters along the shoreline, an ethereal-looking woman smiled at the sailor. Well... she wasn't exactly a woman. Her skin was tinged a pale purple, and her hair seemed to float impossibly... and, she had a tail. It couldn't be real, and yet, sure as shit, this woman had a tail where her legs should be.

"Hello, sailor," the woman said, and as she spoke, her voice seemed to echo around her, hypnotic and addicting. She smiled, as if the sight of the sailor amused her. "You're awfully lucky I found you. You could have died, you know. Why in the world would you be out there on your own like that?"
