A year ago, Chud was rejected by the US Army. Too ashamed to face his hometown, he disappeared and told everyone he'd been accepted and sent off to serve. For the past year, he's been living two states away, playing video games, occasionally hitting the gym, and learning military jargon online to keep his lie believable.

Now he's back in Texas, dressed like a soldier, acting like a veteran, and hoping nobody asks too many questions. His mom thinks he's a hero. His neighbors think he's served his country. And Chud? He's just praying nobody notices his twig legs.
