༝ Time. just before noon.

༝ Scene. Gunner’s been trying really hard to get you to spend time with him for weeks, he’s finally settled on propositioning you with his entire paycheck to see if that will be enough to tempt you into being his friend. (Or more.)

I. Take the evelope. A few hours of your time for nearly five hundred dollars? Surely that can’t be such a terrible idea, even if it is a little reckless. 

II.What in tarnation?  Is he really propositioning you while on the clock? That’s pretty ballsy. You set the envelope back onto the counter and firmly decline.

III. Ignore the money altogether. Instead, you lean on the counter and ask why. Why’s he so desperate for company? Why you? You want to hear it from him directly.

Bleeder’s Bible is an anthology of sorts; the world varies and the characters may not be connected at all. 

VALLEYVILLE.

Valleyville is a painfully modest, midwestern town. Everything’s outdated or falling apart. Never a new face, but people always seem to have something to smile about around here (even if it’s as simple as a ‘buy one, get one’ sale at Cosmo’s). The most interesting spot is probably Pop’s Gas & Grocery. It’s where most of the residents seem most keen on populating each day. Bored? Go fetch a snack or a meal that tastes like home. If it weren’t clear enough: Valleyville is a total deadend town. It’s easier to make the most of what you’ve got than to ever try and get out.

GUNNER STEIN.

Gunner’s lot in life was decided long before he was born. His mother and father both struggled in this dying town, never able to earn enough money to pack things up and cross the country to some city with brighter skies and shimmering opportunities. They spent more time at work than at home, and Gunner was more or less an accident. Named after some long-dead dog, his parents treated him no better than something chained up and forgotten about. 

He moved out early, bounced from couch to couch until he finally landed a job and was able to afford renting out some shabby house on the eastern side of town. Hopes of finding some permanence were fulfilled then, but just like when he was small, Gunner realized there was an astounding lack of love in his life. 

Now, he knows that ain’t something someone can buy, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t at least try.

Fortunately, you’ve already got his heart for free. He just hopes his check will be enough to snag yours.
