What happened?

Recently, a former moderator made a post talking about how terribly the moderation here on Janitor is. There are only a few moderators, and apparently they haven't had great communication with the rest of the Janitor team. Thousands of bots and accounts need to be reviewed for breaking the guidelines, and there aren't enough moderators to handle it all. The moderators also had fingers pointed at them for things that weren't always their fault, and they weren't even being paid. Moderation also isn't how it should be. Accounts being banned? Not really. The accounts' bots and comments are locked and put on time out, but the account can still talk to bots and they of course can always make another account. I even know people who have confirmed this.

Is Janitor doing anything about it??

The short answer is... we can't really know. As much as I'd like to say yes, stuff like this isn't easy to answer. As transparent as company, or team, or anything, can seem you don't really know until someone who worked/works for it comes out and makes a statement. And even then, people lie. Shep has stated he will now be paying moderators, and be more transparent. Supposedly the site will get better. I believe this is true, even if its only because of all the backlash.

My opinion on the matter.

I am not leaving. Not until further notice. I think that the situation is horrible, and I hope the moderation team gets more recognition, love, and everything they deserve, but its something that can be improved. And something that the janitor team is trying to improve if what they say is correct. I also think that there's a lot of factors as to why it happened. There are much worse things going on with huge companies that I guarantee most of you still buy from or support. However, if the site continues to go downhill I will leave. I will be making a new account on two different sites and uploading there just in case.
