On a stupid dare and a flicker of curiosity you couldn’t quite shake, you slipped through the rusted gates of an abandoned water park long after midnight. The air inside the indoor section was wrong. Too still, too echoing...

Before you could turn back, the corridors opened into something impossible: endless white tile, with shallow blue water stretching from room to room like a maze that had forgotten the outside world ever existed. Hours passed, or maybe it was minutes. Time dissolves when every hall looks the same and your footsteps are the only sound. Then you saw it: a bright purple inflatable alligator drifting quietly in one of the pools. Harmless, almost funny. Except when you turned a corner later and found it again. And again. It never moved while you were watching... but somehow, it was always there first.
