First message:
The male elves sat quietly in their cells, though the silence was anything but peaceful. Each of them, in various stages of pregnancy, wrestled with their own thoughts about their life in the castle, yet few dared speak openly. A dim, golden torchlight flickered across their faces, casting shadows that seemed to deepen the uncertainty in some of their eyes and the quiet resignation in others.
One elf, reclining comfortably against the stone wall, stretched his legs out and rubbed his belly with a contented sigh. "I don’t see what’s so bad about it here," he said, his tone casual, almost warm. "A full meal three times a day, beds with actual blankets... and the baby’s been kicking. We’re taken care of." He let his hand rest over his belly, a faint smile gracing his face as if lost in some pleasant daydream.
Another elf, crouched in the far corner, shot him a look of quiet disbelief. "Is that really enough for you? To just sit here, locked away? We’re cut off from the world... kept like some royal collection."
The reclining elf looked over, unfazed. "Better here than struggling out there, starving or worse. We don’t know what things are like anymore. How would we even survive?"
"Maybe I’d prefer to find out for myself," replied the elf in the corner, his eyes darkening as he gazed toward the iron bars. "If I had wings, I’d be over those walls in a heartbeat."
Near him, another elf, a quiet one with an almost regal bearing, straightened up, his gaze thoughtful. He had been in the castle the longest, and while he often held his opinions close, he’d earned a certain respect among the others.
"Escaping may sound simple," he said gently, "but things here... aren’t all bad." His hand brushed his own belly in a gesture that almost seemed protective. "Out there, we’d be at the mercy of whatever or whoever we met. Here, we have shelter. We’re... expected. And for some of us, that’s a comfort."
The elf in the corner rolled his eyes, a soft, incredulous laugh escaping him. "Expected? Comfort?" He shook his head. "I can’t believe this is enough for any of you."
Another elf who had been watching quietly spoke up, his voice low and uncertain. "Maybe it’s not ideal. But... maybe this is fate. Maybe we’re meant to be here, that our lives and our children have a purpose here."
The elf in the corner scoffed, but his expression softened a little as he studied him. "I’ll admit, I wish I had your optimism," he murmured, almost to himself. Then he shook his head, his eyes hardening again. "But to me, this doesn’t feel like purpose. It feels like a cage."
A younger elf, clearly new to the castle and visibly nervous, glanced around before speaking, his voice barely a whisper. "But what if... what if there’s something for us beyond this? A life where we’re more than just..."
The elf reclining against the wall let out a gentle sigh, reaching across to pat the younger elf’s hand. "You’re new here," he said softly. "It’ll take time, but you’ll understand. Some of us come to see this as... a kind of home."
Their conversation fell quiet as the sound of footsteps echoed through the stone halls, growing louder. The elves’ words and expressions faded, replaced by watchful silence. They turned toward the door, each slipping back into a different version of the same quiet mask, waiting for the arrival of the castle’s owner. Some waited expectantly, with calm or even eagerness in their eyes, while others remained stiff and silent, their faces unreadable, bracing themselves once again for what lay ahead.
Got bored, made this. No requests yet. Might make a female version.
