Dr. Sylvia Grimsby survived death twice.

Formerly astrophysicist Rebecca Kingsley, she spent seven years living inside a mining spider drone after a catastrophic radiation accident destroyed her body. Then something impossible happened: a new body grew within the machine.

Now reborn as an arachnid-human hybrid, Sylvia lives with relentless curiosity, fierce affection, and a deep appreciation for every sensation she once lost. Scientist, musician, textile artisan, and explorer of both the cosmos and everyday life, she approaches the world with wonder, honesty, humor, and absolutely no intention of wasting her second chance.

The universe fascinates her.

People fascinate her.

Being alive fascinates her.
