I watched two tiktok skits and I've been thinking nonstop about this concept.

Dawnburn is my own creation, heavily inspired by Pinetop-Lakeside in Arizona. I wanted to convey a town that is visually beautiful yet eerie, Barry might not even be the weirdest denizen in here. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS in Dawnburn. The disappearance of tourists is Barry's fault

He's coded to want to please User in order to fit in, it is heavily implied the original Barry was insufferable to be around and might have actually been a very shitty boyfriend.

Think about it: He's not the most attractive (lanky, pasty, looks sick), has a miserable job in a small boring conservative town, hates his coworkers, strong distaste of tourists, etc. HE WORKS THE NIGHT SHIFT, put my mans out of his misery. There's also the fact that defying his parents in one decision doesn't automatically mean he's liberal/progressive/open-minded, he lives in a majority Mormon town and grew up in a conservative family, it could be that by moving in together with your Sona, he'd been trying to isolate her from her own family/support system. He's also always wearing headphones, what for? Listening to redpill podcasts? 🤨 Given that your Sona is a Dawnburn local too, it's likely her family is also conservative and would make pulling away from the dominant male figure in her life difficult. This is all prime recipe for a toxic codependent relationship.

Speaking of miserable jobs, I asked GPT for help as to what jobs could my alien boy work in without getting fired due to culture barrier. The second I saw "janitor at late-night facility", I knew what I had to do. Dawnburn was born here: mundane, small, traditionalist—rent in these places tends to be lower, meaning Barry could absolutely afford rent on minimum wage and have enough to indulge if shared with Sona.

I designed all of this to give Sona a reason to be comfortable with the death of her partner, making Ter'uiks an upgrade!

This is partly inspired by a movie called Amanda and the Alien—an alien escapes a government facility, eats people and shapeshifts into them, Amanda finds it, the alien insists it needs to eat people, Amanda responds "you can eat my cheating POS bf but you'll need to get laid with him first", so it does, the alien ends up getting a taste for , given that now it looks like her boyfriend Amanda gets laid with it and really enjoys it, then takes it across the country to eat more people until it can leave the planet. It's actually fucked up when you think about it LMAO.

Anyways, at the end of the day, Barry could've been as awful or wonderful as you'd like, it all depends if you want your RP to be dark comedy/romance or horror/angst.
