Rupture is a status effect that deals bonus fixed damage to the afflicted unit. When hit, the unit with Rupture will take damage equal to the Rupture Potency, and the Rupture Count will be reduced by 1.

Rupture is linked to the Gluttony Sin Affinity.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Rupture is a status effect that requires careful managing, but can deal extremely high damage. Because Rupture Potency has a maximum value of 99, a Rupture team can deal 99 fixed damage per hit per turn. For example, a team of 6 using only 2 coin skills could deal 1188 fixed damage per turn. While it is very difficult to get Rupture Potency and Count high enough to deal that much damage outside of Mirror Dungeons, smaller amounts can still deal a lot of extra damage, especially against enemies of a high level or with any form of damage reduction that causes them to take less damage from regular attacks.

Rupture is generally effective against all types of enemies regardless of resistances, but especially those that have only a single targetable Part. Rupture Identities almost always have at least one Gluttony skill. Rupture damage, like all types of fixed damage, also ignores damage reduction from buffs (like Protection), level scaling, and enemy resistances or weaknesses.

Rupture is, however, least effective large groups of multiple enemies, as well as Abnormalities with multiple Parts, as it may become difficult to focus building a high Rupture stack on a single target.

Despite the large amount of Identities currently in-game that apply Rupture Potency, Identities with a surplus of Rupture Count remain rare, and it is difficult to maintain Rupture Count without careful attention to skill order. Prior to Season 6: Zàng Huā Yín, dedicated Rupture Count teams also tended to have low Skill Power and low numbers of coins, which wasn't an issue for other Status Effects like Sinking or Bleed. This was at least in part influenced by the prior iteration of Lobotomy E.G.O::Red Sheet Sinclair, whose Talisman effect was previously capable of applying high amounts of Rupture each turn with no definite limit; this, combined with Rupture's inherently defense-ignoring properties, allowed teams to deal significantly higher single-target damage than was intended.

Several effects apply more Rupture Count. Dimensional Rift applies Rupture Count next turn, while Spark Discharge adds +1 to Rupture Count when a Gloom Affinity skill hits the target, turning all Gloom skills Rupture Count neutral or positive.

Some Identities also have special conditionals on their skills that prevents Rupture application once a certain amount is achieved on an enemy (usually 15 Rupture Potency and 3 Rupture Count). Instead, these skills do not consume Rupture Count On Hit or activate highly damaging but heavily Count-negative effects.

Deathrite

The "Deathrite" group of effects are currently only applied by Heishou Pack Identities. After being inflicted on an enemy, Deathrite effects will reduce each time the target's Rupture stack is triggered with an attack meeting a specific conditional (often corresponding to their respective Heishou Branch's mechanics); for Deathrite【Haste】, the attacker must have 10 or higher Speed, while for Deathrite【Venom】, the attack has to be a Critical Hit. This then applies a debuff on the enemy, such as Rupture Count or Bind. When depleted fully, the Deathrite effect will finally expire, causing the target to suffer Gluttony damage equal to their Rupture Potency.
