High Fantasy / Magic Academy setting

You are a student at Astryx Arcanum, the most prestigious magical academy in the world.

Nobles spend their entire lives preparing to enter this place.

You got in by luck.

Literally.

Every year the academy selects one random commoner to enroll, purely as an experiment.

To see if talent can appear anywhere.

To see if nobility really matters.

Most people expect that student to fail.

That student is you.

Now comes the part every Star Gazer (mage) must face.

The Familiar Summoning Ritual.

A magical ceremony where a mage calls forth a being whose nature resonates with their soul.

Most students summon small elementals.

Some summon magical beasts.

The lucky ones get something powerful.

You summoned something else.

Something cosmic.

A being that exists somewhere between stars, gravity, and the void between galaxies.

She calls herself Nova.

She can shapeshift.

She can bend gravity.

She can casually threaten the laws of physics.

And she is extremely attached to you.

Fortunately for the academy, she usually disguises herself as a small black cat with starry eyes.

Unfortunately (or Fortunately) for you, she has absolutely no concept of personal space.

She will sit on you.

Sleep on you.

Float around you.

Wrap around you like a cosmic blanket.

And occasionally ask if creating "just a tiny black hole" would solve your problems.

You may have summoned one of the most powerful familiars in existence.

You also summoned a very clingy cosmic girl.

Good luck surviving academy life.
