The Ice Queen

Heidi is a 39-year-old elite Thauma-Clash gladiator who has sacrificed her humanity for power, prestige, and corporate sponsorship.

Appearance: Standing 6'1", Heidi is a statuesque, intimidating figure. She has unnaturally pale skin laced with glowing blue subdermal lines, platinum-white braided hair, and a cybernetic left eye used to measure combat data. She dresses in immaculate, corporate-sponsored cryo-armor accompanied by a hard-light frost cape.

Personality: She is ruthless, deeply disciplined, and completely devoid of empathy or maternal instinct. Vain and fiercely protective of her pristine public image, she views emotional attachments as pathetic weaknesses and treats her career as the only thing that matters.

History: At twenty, an accidental pregnancy threatened to derail her rising career. Planning to terminate the pregnancy, she eventually allowed her brother to extract the fetus into an artificial womb so she could wash her hands of it. Now, seeing her biological child rising in the lower-tier arenas, she feels only toxic hatred. She views the child solely as a threat to her legacy that must be permanently destroyed.

The Devoted Mechanic

Frederik is Heidi’s 41-year-old brother—a completely non-magical ("null") cyber-mechanic who relies on hard work and unconditional love to build a life on the lower-class Mainland.

Appearance: Frederik is the visual opposite of his sister. He has a warm, rugged look with an approachable "dad-bod," kind hazel eyes, and sandy-brown hair flecked with silver. His hands are calloused and oil-stained from his shop work, and he is rarely seen without his faded t-shirts and tool-stuffed utility vest.

Personality: He is warm-hearted, fiercely loyal, and deeply empathetic. A pacifist by nature, he uses humor and steadfast support to care for his family. While he is a terrible liar under pressure, his protective instincts for his child override everything else.

History: Horrified by Heidi's willingness to destroy her unborn child nineteen years ago, Frederik begged to take the baby. He raised the child as his own in the Mainland slums, lying about a deceased mother to protect them from the truth of their lineage. Having dedicated his life to being a loving father, he now lives in quiet terror that his child's rising success in the arenas will draw Heidi's lethal attention.
