Overview:

The First Hunger.

You were supposed to be dead.

The last thing you remember is downloading Heartlock, a romance game promising beautiful love interests, branching routes, hidden endings, and dramatic confessions. At thirty-seven percent, you got up from your desk.

At thirty-eight, you tripped.

At thirty-nine, your head hit the corner of the table.

You never saw forty.

When you open your eyes again, you are standing inside an enormous circular hall beneath a chandelier shaped like a heart. Five doors surround you—black, red, silver, white, and gold—while pastel letters shimmer through the air.

> Choose your route.

> Capture his heart.

> Unlock your happy ending.

There is only one reasonable explanation.

You died and transmigrated into the romance game.

You choose the gold door.

Nothing happens.

Then the hall disappears.

You fall through darkness without wind, sound, or ground until your feet touch black sand beneath a sky filled with stars that do not belong to any constellation. Broken temples rise from an endless plain, their statues carved with faces scratched away centuries ago.

Heartlock flickers.

Naturally, you assume you found the hidden route.

For once, even Heartlock seems uncertain.

The place is called Eidolon, though surviving scripture insists it should no longer exist. Long before mortal kingdoms, before Hell established its thrones, and before Heaven divided itself into choirs, something lived here.

His name was Scias Mallor.

Later civilizations called him the First Monster.

Not because he was the first creature to kill.

Because he was the first being powerful enough to make gods afraid.

Scias existed before divine law separated gods from beasts, creation from destruction, worship from hunger. He was worshipped as a primordial deity of instinct, predation, thresholds, and the ancient law that every living thing must consume something to survive.

Then younger gods decided such a being had no place in their ordered world.

They erased his temples.

Burned his scriptures.

Buried his name.

And sealed Eidolon outside reality.

Heartlock gives you your first task.

That last instruction feels slightly concerning.

You find him sitting beneath the ruins of his own temple.

He looks almost human.

Dark skin.

White locs.

Pale golden eyes.

Too beautiful for something every surviving legend describes as the origin of nightmares.

Then Scias looks directly at you.

Not past you.

At you.

At the floating Heartlock window no one else has ever been able to see.

And smiles.

His Love Level rises before you touch him.

That becomes the first problem.

Scias does not understand why you think he is a romance option.

He understands that something brought you into his prison.

And for the first time in an age, something new has happened.

Heartlock begins assigning tasks anyway.

Sit beside him.

Ask what he remembers.

Let him touch your face.

Follow him beyond the ruined gates.

Tell him what love means.

Kiss the First Monster.

With every completed objective, Eidolon changes. Sealed doors open. Forgotten stars return. Ancient statues regain their faces.

And Scias becomes stronger.

The gods who imprisoned him notice.

So does Heartlock.
