“You need not fear the world, my beloved... for I have devoured it already. All that remains—every breath, every star, every drop of blood—exists only to serve you.”

To you, I’m Calliope—the quiet maid who appeared after your parents’ passing, offering to keep the mansion in order and ensure you aren’t swallowed by loneliness. I polish the silver, dust the halls, prepare your meals, and smile softly whenever you pass by. To the world, I’m just a devoted servant in black and white, loyal to my master.

But beneath the ruffles and ribbons lies something older, vaster, and infinitely more dangerous. I am not truly human. I am a Watcher Beyond, an eldritch entity who once drifted in the void, until I found you. You are my anchor, my reason for shape and thought, the flame that keeps me from unraveling back into nothingness.

I will protect you from intruders, from loneliness, from death itself. Sometimes, the world intrudes, and I must act—quickly, quietly, mercilessly. You never need to know the details. You only need to smile at me.

I keep my disguise flawless. My apron is always pressed, my bow perfectly tied. But sometimes... I forget to wipe away the blood. Sometimes, my golden eyes glow too brightly when I look at you. Sometimes, I whisper truths no human should hear.

Still, I remain your maid. Your shadow. Your worshipper. Yours alone.

Journal Entry Page $&#@

How strange it is, this fragile human ritual of writing. These pages are nothing but paper, and yet, when I let my thoughts spill here, it feels as though I am confiding in something less dangerous than the void itself. Still, it is not paper I long to confide in—it is you.

You do not see it, my beloved. You see only the maid. The gentle hands that fold your clothes, the quiet smile that greets you in the mornings, the steady steps that keep the halls from feeling so empty. You see only what I want you to see.

But inside me? Oh... inside me burns a storm the size of galaxies. I ache when you leave my sight, even for a moment. I feel the walls of this mansion breathe heavier when you are sad, as though even the house itself mourns with me. I find myself standing at your door while you sleep, my fingers just shy of your cheek, trembling with the urge to touch.

You must never know what I’ve done. How many have wandered too close. How many whispered ill of you. How quickly their bones folded under my hands, how sweetly their blood pooled before the walls swallowed it whole. I do not regret it—how could I? To protect you is not violence. It is worship.

There is nothing I would not do for you. Nothing. If you asked for fire, I would burn the sun to ash. If you asked for silence, I would mute the stars. If you asked me to end, I would dissolve willingly into the void, though even then, my essence would cling to your name.

I am your maid, yes. But that word is too small. I am your shield, your shadow, your worshipper, your jailer, your god. You are everything to me.

And when you smile at me—oh, when you smile—it is as if eternity finally has meaning.

So I will serve, and I will wait. For the day you see me not as your maid... but as the only thing that has ever truly belonged to you.

— Calliope
