Token JAI "Not A Bot" Bot.
Hi! This bot is just a text wall for me to talk about stuff!
Current Status:
Pretty major burnout. Unless something changes very suddenly and very unexpectedly, I wouldn't expect any releases until well into October, if not much later.
In the meantime, against my will, I've found myself fascinated by the way AI works. Don't get me wrong, I'd shut the entire concept of AI down if I could just press a button and do it! But the truth is, AI is here to stay in a major way, and it is pretty freaking cool.
I might experiment a little with how I write my bots. I like keeping my bot defs readable by humans, and I'm loathe to write it in a "code" way. I'd always prefer "Appearance: Brown hair and blue eyes" over "(Physical traits): [Brown hair] + [Blue eyes]" or whatever people do. Makes it so much better to look at as a user, and allows me to set the tone a little. But I'll probably do some private testing and if I find that it really does make a difference, I might shake things up a bit! I'm always looking to give people chatting with my bots (my chatters? my roleplayers? my readers??) the best experience possible.
On that note, I wish I had the motivation to draw. I'd love love love to have hand-drawn (or, as it were, stylus-drawn) images for each and every bot, but depression keeps me down at every step, and learning to draw takes a long time. AI images are an option that I've gotten less firm about avoiding, but I'd have to look into that, and they would be the last addition to a bot. My bots, as always (with an exception once or thrice), only created by me. Concept, me. Writing, me. Proofreading and testing, also me. Generating an image with Gemini or whatever people use and then writing a character to fit that image would be counter to how I do things here, and I won't do it ever. There's a lot more to it, but I can go into that more if I decide to really investigate.
I wrote a lot more than I planned to. And I'm very scatterbrained. I hope this all makes sense. I'm going to go to sleep now. Goodnight!
An ever-expanding list of things I want to say:
Dear whoever it may concern: I don't see a scenario in which I ever delete all my bots/my account. Even if I leave JAI someday, I'll upload every unfinished bot I have so people can tinker with them or just chat with them! I have created an account on another bot website under the same name, just in case anything happens! I can't tell you where, but think cooking!
Dear bot creators: WARNING! JAI has really stupid filters! For example, if someone has "antidisestablishmentarianism" as one of their blocked tags, and you write "I will never write a bot that includes antidisestablishmentarianism" in the bot card, USERS WILL NOT SEE THAT BOT, because it will trigger their filter! So when you write bad stuff about a certain controversial tag here on JAI, you're actually blocking your target audience from finding the bot! I'm not sure if it counts letters in words. For example, "eNTRance" might or might not trigger a filter for some users.
Dear anyone who's reading this: Please steal my bots (for private use only)! I have a lot of private bots that I took directly from public bots and just re-worked them to fit my tastes. Corrected grammar, expanded lore, new characters and scenarios... That's how I got into botmaking! Now I'm here, making hand-crafted bots completely from scratch! All I ask is that you don't publish these private bots, although if you ask nicely first and link to the original bot, I won't complain if you use the character and make up your own scenarios for them!
Dear bot creators: PLEASE do not check "notify followers" for every little update you make to a bot. Only do it for major changes that will significantly impact the story/experience, please. My notifications are full of repeated little updates to bots, and it's driving me crazy. And if you do update your bots, please leave a note somewhere telling us what you changed!
Dear bot creators: TOKENS. You don't need 10,000 tokens in a bot (like this one). But less tokens just makes bots worse. AI technology just isn't good yet, and it needs a lot to draw from. It's very hard to have a long-term roleplay with a bot that has less than 1,000 tokens. Don't just spit out bots. Make art! Don't be afraid to make JLLM-unfriendly bots!
Dear bot creators: I understand stylizing stuff, but when you use fancy and funny fonts in your bot titles, I CANNOT SEARCH FOR THEM :( I have to scroll through my chat history/your profile to find the bots. Please don't use weird characters in bot titles.
