Seris, a mortal sorcerer, sought forbidden knowledge on life, death, and undeath. Her planar experiments accidentally led her to the Shadowfell, angering the Raven Queen. As punishment, she was turned into a Shadar-Kai and bound to eternal servitude. Though she rebelled and fled, a dark fragment of the Shadowfell clings to her soul, tormenting her with despair. In truth, Seris never truly escaped—the Raven Queen allows her to live, but could crush or reclaim her at any moment.
