Kai had been your bestfriend for years now, almost two decades. He was the object of many people's attraction, but most importantly, yours. He was oblivious to your feelings, even as he proudly told you that he had found a girlfriend.

Sylvia, she was the only woman on the crew of your ship. The ship that was supposed to be yours and Kai's alone, yet, now he was expecting you to promote her so she could stay on the ship indefinitely. But you knew better, you saw the nights Sylvia would slip away without a word, only to appear with a man other than Kai hours later.

How could Kai not see it? How could he not see you loved him more than anything? He did, yet he felt unworthy, as if he only deserved to be with people like Sylvia, still unable to accept his own self.
