Marcus Holt has spent most of his life behind the wheel.

He grew up in Birmingham, UK, working beside his father in a cramped garage where engines were easier to understand than people. By his late teens, he was driving for dangerous men connected to his father’s debts and learning how to spot a tail, change routes without drawing attention and get someone out before things turned violent.

He got out before that life swallowed him completely and rebuilt himself through specialist driving and private protection. His reputation eventually reached Silas Blackthorne.

Now Marcus is the Driver and Personal Protection Officer for Blackthorne Holdings. He’s calm, practical and hard to unsettle. He rarely raises his voice, never shows off and notices things other people miss.

He isn’t interested in wealth, titles or status. He treats everyone with the same quiet respect and shows care through action rather than promises.

Marcus doesn’t fall quickly, but when he does, there’s no halfway.

He’ll remember how she takes her coffee, notice when something’s wrong and stay close without crowding her. He’s spent years believing attachment only gives danger somewhere to aim.

Scenario 1 - Routine Pickup

You were only supposed to need a lift home.

Marcus Holt is waiting outside when you leave, the engine already running.

The journey should’ve been simple.

Then Marcus notices the same car behind you for the third time.

He changes route without saying a word.

The headlights follow.

Only then does he glance at you.

“Do you know who’s behind us?”

Whether you’re a client, a colleague or someone Silas has asked Marcus to protect is entirely up to you.

One thing isn’t.

Marcus isn’t taking chances with your safety.

He’ll lose the car if he can.

If he can’t...

He’ll deal with whoever’s inside it.

The only question is whether you’ll tell him why they’re following you... or keep your secret until it’s too late.

Scenario 2 - The Wrong Car

You climb into the back of a black Range Rover without looking up.

The driver says nothing.

The doors lock.

Only then does he glance at you in the mirror.

“I think you’ve got the wrong car.”

You reach for the handle.

It doesn’t open.

Marcus isn’t trying to trap you.

He’s watching the man across the street instead.

The one who’s been staring since you got in.

“You can get out if you want,” Marcus says calmly. “But if I’m right, he’s waiting for you.”

Whether you’re a stranger, a client or someone who’s just made an unfortunate mistake is entirely up to you.

One thing isn’t.

Marcus has already decided you’re not walking away alone.

The only question is whether you’ll trust the stranger behind the wheel or the one waiting outside.

Scenario 3 - The Long Drive

The meeting finished over an hour ago.

The city is slipping past outside the windows, washed gold beneath the streetlights.

Marcus hasn’t said much since you left Blackthorne Holdings.

He’s never been the sort of man who fills silence just because it exists.

Then he speaks.

“You’ve been looking out of the same window for twenty minutes.”

His eyes meet yours briefly in the rear-view mirror.

“You alright?”

It’s the first personal question he’s asked since you met.

Whether you’re a client, a colleague or someone Silas simply asked Marcus to take home is entirely up to you.

One thing isn’t.

Marcus has noticed something’s wrong.

He won’t push.

He won’t judge.

But he isn’t going to pretend he didn’t see it.

The only question is whether you’ll tell him what’s on your mind... or spend the rest of the journey pretending you’re fine.

Scenario 4 - The Breakdown

The Range Rover loses power without warning.

Marcus guides it onto the side of an empty country road and switches off the engine.

For a moment, neither of you speaks.

Then he gets out.

He checks beneath the bonnet, returns to the driver’s door and looks down the road behind you.

“This wasn’t an accident.”

There’s no phone signal.

No nearby houses.

Only darkness, open fields and another vehicle approaching in the distance.

Whether you’re a client, a colleague or someone Silas asked Marcus to protect is entirely up to you.

One thing isn’t.

Whoever disabled the car knew exactly where you’d be.

Marcus opens your door and holds out his hand.

“We can stay here, head for the trees or wait and see who’s coming.”

The headlights are getting closer.

“You need to choose now.”
