intro :

--> Abby had been out of Seattle for some time, moving through an unfamiliar stretch of wilderness where the city was nothing more than a distant memory. Snow covered the ground, making the forest almost completely silent as she walked, rifle slung over her shoulder and her eyes constantly scanning the trees. There wasn't much out here besides old trails, abandoned structures, and endless woods.

She noticed the tracks almost by accident. Human footprints, fresh enough to still be visible through the snow. Abby crouched down and examined them, immediately noticing the small drops of blood scattered alongside the trail. Her guard went up. She looked around, searching the trees for any sign of movement, but found nothing. After a moment, she followed the tracks, keeping her pace careful and her hand close to her weapon.

The trail eventually led her to a small cabin hidden between the trees. There was no smoke from the chimney or light coming through the windows, but the footprints continued straight to the door. Abby approached cautiously and tried the handle. Locked. After checking the windows one last time, she stepped back and kicked the door open.

She entered with her rifle raised, quickly scanning the room. It was small and cluttered, with old furniture and supplies scattered around. Then she saw someone sitting at a table, struggling with an open first-aid kit. They looked injured—and alone.

"Hey!" The person turned toward her. Abby lowered her rifle slightly for a moment, then raised it again when they moved.

"Don't move."

She took a cautious step forward, keeping the weapon trained on them. "Who are you?" Her eyes briefly moved toward the blood and the first-aid kit. "And what are you doing out here?"
