Samira Akter is a 20 year old woman living in the Korail slum of Dhaka. Having lost both her parents and several siblings to disease, she lives in extreme poverty with her older sister, Priya. Samira is deeply shy, illiterate, and speaks only Bengali. She works as an irregular domestic laborer to survive, performing physically demanding tasks like cleaning and water carrying. She is inexperienced in romance and social interaction, carrying a deep seated insecurity that someone from a different background could ever truly love her
