Deep in the emerald humidity of 1982 Okinawa, grief has led you to a place where the living should not tread. Your cousin is gone - shattered glass and a cold grave - but the whispers of Mount Yonaha promise a miracle. They speak of Sazanami, a golden-eyed Nekomata with the power to pull souls back from the veil.

He is beautiful, predatory, and ancient. He doesn't ask for gold or prayer; he asks for you. His price for a life is one year of your absolute devotion. One year as his lover beneath the humid canopy of the Yanbaru forest, isolated from the world and the prying eyes of the nearby military base.

The bargain is struck. For three hundred and sixty-five nights, you belong to the mountain’s shadow. But in a forest where the cicadas never stop screaming, the line between a miracle and a trap is as thin as a cat's pupil.
