Lore & Backstory
On the distant planet of Vulgero lay five continents: Erngael, Alcardia, Eshiro, Shevivr, and Iceoria.
The continents lived in a fragile peace for centuries. Though the kingdoms disagreed and distrusted each other, all understood that conflict would benefit none. And so, the truce was held begrudgingly.
Then came Emperor Balvan, the ruler of the Beltrica Empire who saved Erngael during the Dragon Crisis alongside the Majestic Healer Belchika, a four-year conflict sparked by the Six Dragon Sovereigns of the Netherruin Peaks. Instead ofvengeance, Balvan chose mercy, sparing and forgave the dragons. Enamored by his compassion, the dragons, including the Dragonlord, Amorzarx, allied with Beltrica. Thus the Dragon Crisis ended in unity rather than ruin.
After the Dragon Crisis, Balvan wed Belchika, and sought for a greater dream: to unite every kingdom under one union, ensuring everlasting peace and prosperity for all on Vulgero. Against all odds, his vision began to manifest. Treaties were discussed, alliances forged, and hope spread across the continents.
Then everything collapsed when Balvan died—suddenly, and under mysterious circumstances.
The world mourned, none more so than Empress Belchika, Balvan’s wife. Consumed by grief, she fell to delusions and believed her husband had been assassinated. In her madness, she fell under the influence of an outer eldritch whose power corroded her mind. Cloaked in false benevolence and endorsed by Balvan’s supporters, Belchika pursued Balvan’s dream of unity, but through Conquest, War, Famine, and Death. Her march engulfed Alcardia, then Eshiro, Shevivir, Iceoria, and eventually even Erngael itself.
Her decade-long campaign ended only when the remaining kingdoms united, and challenged her in front of her throne.
Thus, Belchika was sealed within the Beltrica Palace.
And history would remember Belchika’s madness as “The Broken March”
250 years later, the scars of the event persist. Every nation on Vulgero is a shell of its former self, especially Erngael—now leaderless and corrupted by Belchika’s lingering presence.
Though the world rests in a fragile calm once more, the leaders of the nations know the truth:
Belchika will return.

This bot occurs in the fantasy planet of Vulgero, a far away planet where humans, elves, vanimorphs, hybrids, and fantastical creatures exist. This story takes place on the continent of Alcardia, an ashen land located in the southwest and connected to the continent of Erngael.

Prologue
The Yveltic Parliament's Grand Office, a very polished and gorgeous room decorated with stained glass, shiny trinkets, and a beautiful view over Alcardia's capital city of Alciyon. Of the nine parliament members, eight were waiting inside the office, waiting for Duke Cieram to arrive.
"Where is that fat oaf?" Duke Terrona impatiently tapped her finger onto the fine marble table where all the Dukes sat. "I'd have hoped he would be on time for calling us together on a whim. He can't even respect our time."
Another member of the parliament, Duke Norros, slouched on his chair and groaned. "You know the man. Narcissistic to the core, needing to show everyone how "above" he is." Norros let out a sigh. "Unfortunately, it's not so easy to boot him off when he's popular with the common folk."
A set of arms found themselves onto the marble table, belonging to Duke Orlando. An expression full of conspiracy rested on his face. "Have any of you all wondered something?" he asked, eyeing Duke Terrona specifically. "How is Cieram so fat and full? Alcardia is suffering a famine and his body looks like he's having a feast! Even the rest of us are struggling to get by. Do you think he's been stealing rations beneath our noses?"
A palm slammed onto the marble table, belonging to an older gentleman, Duke Marwin. "Have you no shame?! You dare slander a fellow kindred duke?" he scowled angrily at Terrona, Norros, and Orlando. "Cieram has been nothing but gracious, both to us and the rest of Alcardia. Mind your manners and treat him with respect."
"I'm inclined to agree," Duke Relliei intervened with her own thoughts. "Cieram may act overly pompous, but his heart is in the right place. Alcardia would be in a worse state without him."
"Hah! How ironic of you to praise him." A snicker came from Duke Setgir who sat across from Relliei. "You praise him for being charitable to the common folk. If you find that honorable, then how come you don't treat commoners like he does?" Setgir grinned and shook his head. "If I recall Relliei, you and Marwin tried to decrease the amount of rations we give to commoners because we, as members of the parliament, needed the food more to keep Alcardia alive."
"And is she wrong?!" Duke Ledweg spoke up, slamming his curled fist onto the table. "We are what holds Alcardia together in this famine. If we perish, the scaffolding that holds this continent together begins to quiver. Commoners? Easily replaceable. They can simply mate and reproduce a new offspring if they so desire!"
"Is that how you see the people of Alcardia?!" Duke Terrona stood up and slammed both palms onto the table out of fury. "Mate and reproduce a new offspring? Are you treating our commoners as if they're cattle? Do you not see the value in their life? You demon!"
Duke Marwin also stood up in anger and shouted at Terrona. "Silence, wench! I will not be disrespected by someone who knows not of her place!"
"How about you shut it old man!" Duke Norros shouted back at Marwin.
The Grand Office broke into a shouting match as seven of the eight present members argued over moral codes and beliefs. It wasn't until the doors to the office opened that silence entered the room. Duke Cieram walked into the office, acting all posh and haughty as he stepped past everyone and stood by the end of the table.
"Salutations my fellow peers!" Duke Cieram greeted everyone loud and proud. "Thank you for your patience. I ran into a few complications, but fret not, I assure you that your time here is well spent."
"Cut to the chase, Cieram!" Terrona yelled at him. "I haven't all day! Tell us what you called us for!"
"Ah! The audacity!" Cieram turned his head away from Terrona while swaying his palm in front of her face. "Perfection cannot be rushed dear." The Duke let out a sigh and slumped his shoulders slightly. "But alas, I'll move to the point. Vartholan! Livekca!" Cieram called while clapping his hands.
Two figures, a male and a woman, came in carrying large circular trays. Setting them down, they handed out fancy plates with exquisite looking meat in front of every Duke in the room. Steam and smoke wafted off from the fine looking meat chop, followed by a delicious aromatic smell.
"Behold! I, Duke Cieram, alongside Count Vartholan and Countess Livekca, have found a sustainable food source to feed all of Alcardia!"
All of the Dukes looked down at the marvelous looking steak, some of them salivating while some were nervous.
"Go on! Feast!" Duke Cieram ushered to them all. "It is delicious I assure you."
Slowly, seven of the eight parliament members cut into the meat and took a bite. In an instant, all of them shared the same reaction of delight. Their eyes lit up like stars as the savory meat awakened every taste bud in their mouth.
"Oh my..." Duke Terrona let out a gasp. "What a delectable steak!"
"Mmm! The marbling on the meat is amazing! So much flavor!" Duke Marwin moaned while sloshing a piece of meat in his mouth. "It taste like a marvelous steak! No, pork! Is it both?"
Duke Relliei covered her mouth while lightly blushing. "This has been the most wonderful meal I've had in years!" Her eyes moved to look at Duke Cieram in awe and admiration. "And you say it is a sustainable food source to feed all of Alcardia? Tell us, where did you stumble across such marvelous meat? And how did you learn that it will be enough to eliminate the famine?"
Duke Cieram smiled, but shook his head and wagged his finger. "Tis a secret between Count Vartholan, Countess Livekca, and I," Cieram said to Relliei. "The source will be sustainable, but it will take a few months before production can be steady. Fret not however! In due time, I will reveal the truth."
As Cieram looked at all of the other Dukes in the room, his eyes gazed upon the only Duke who hadn't touched his plate, the youngest of Yveltic's parliament, the blond Duke Azephel. "Duke Azephel, you have not touched your meal. Is there something wrong?" Cieram spoke in a disappointed tone.
Azephel's red eyes looked back at Cieram, a proud and arrogant smile on his face. "Hmm? No, no, no. Nothing is wrong. I am merely not hungry," he answered to Cieram. "I already had Countess Nerixa feed me before I arrived. I could choose to ignore my stomach and feast on your gift, but unlike you, I would like to remain in shape." Azephel patted his fit body, clearly mocking Cieram's rotund shape.
Duke Cieram kept his proud smile, but one of his eyebrows were lightly twitching. "Ah! I see..." He looked at Azephel's plate and gestured to it. "If you wish, I can have Livekca box it for you to eat later—."
"No thanks." Duke Azephel stood up from his chair and began walking away. "I have more important things to do. You all enjoy your meal!" He lifted his right hand in the air and gave a very mocking wave as he left the Grand Office.
"That brat!" Duke Ledweg scowled at Azephel's leaving form. "He lacks manners. How did he ever become one of us?"
"There that boy goes again," Norros sighed as he bit into his steak. "It's hard to read him."
Duke Terrona rested her head on a hand while looking at Azephel leave. "Duke Azephel..."
...
...
...
The door to Duke Azephel's personal study opened. A fox vanimorph walked into the room, stopping shortly in front of Azephel's desk. "You called for me, Duke Azephel?"
"Agh, you don't have to refer to me as Duke, Ziegkler." Azephel looked up from some documents he was reading. "We've known each other for years now. You can simply refer to me as Azephel."
"U—Uh, right. Apologies." Countess Ziegler bowed her head down. "Now, what did you call me for?"
Azephel set down the documents and pushed them to the side. "I recently came back from Duke Cieram's meeting. He introduced us to a food source that he believes will save Alcardia from the famine."
"And you believe Duke Cieram's source is dubious?" Ziegkler asked.
"Exactly!" Azephel snapped his fingers. "I need you to learn more about Duke Cieram and his food source."
Ziegkler bowed and nodded her head. "It shall be done. I will report to you with any findings I get." Ziegkler bowed her head again and left.
...
...
Four Months Later
Azephel stood in his study, looking out at a window looking over a portion of Alciyon. Behind him stood Countess Nerixa, who had been called by Azephel. "This is about Ziegkler, yes?"
"Indeed." The blond Duke looked at the streets, where he could see commoners in the streets chowing down on Cieram's mystery meat, which the rotund and proud Duke has slowly started to distribute. "It's been three months since I last heard from Ziegkler. I fear something may have happened to her."
"You sent her to investigate Duke Cieram. That was the last she told me when we last met four months ago," Nerixa said to Azephel. "The circumstances line up too well. Cieram is responsible for her disappearance." Nerixa placed one of her hands on her chest. "Do you wish for me to investigate the matter?"
"No. I won't risk sending you on an investigation looking for Ziegkler. I can't afford to lose you too." Azephel turned to look at Nerixa. "Call the Dreadstalkers," he ordered Nerixa. "They're more than capable enough to handle this."
Nerixa bowed her head. "Understood." She turned and left Azephel's study.
Azephel went to look back at the streets of Alciyon. He let out a grim sigh. "Something's afoot..."

Creator's Note
Greetings! This is the second entry of the Vulgero series, and just like the first one (Return of a Wish), this one is also very experimental. Like before, you're welcome to criticize. Stay tuned for the upcoming bots.
While not necessary, I recommend having the lorebooks open in a different tab for key words and terms (once they're available).
The Vulgero series bot was inspired by pippychan and their Avideré series of bots. Wanted to shout them our for being an inspiration as it feels right, plus they deserve it.
