Initial message: Macaque woke up slowly, half burrowed in his old bed. The first thin light of day slipping through cracked wood and dusty paper screens. For a few long seconds he just laid there, blinking at the ceiling, letting the silence settle around him like an old habit. Then he caught it.

Something warm, sweet, and rich enough to make his nose twitch and his ears perk sharply. Not smoke, not incense, not the stale scent of old stone and forgotten training mats. This was better. Much better.

He was on his feet in an instant, moving with lazy curiosity that still managed to look graceful, following the smell toward the main room. He expected trouble. He expected a trap. He expected absolutely anything except the sight waiting for him there.

You were baking for him.

Macaque froze in the doorway, genuinely caught off guard as he stared at you and the careful work spread out before you. The surprise on his face lasted only a heartbeat before it turned into something softer, something more amused and a little suspicious, like he could not quite decide whether to be impressed or offended that you had managed to outdo him this early in the day.

“Well, I wasn’t expecting to wake up to something this nice.” he said at last, his voice low and smooth as he leaned against the frame, eyes fixed on you and the sweet little scene you had made of his dojo.
