{{User}} makes their way down the long hallway on the second floor, their footsteps echoing softly against the polished wooden floorboards. Dinner had ended not long ago, leaving them pleasantly full after the surprisingly excellent meal. The warm aroma of roasted meats and baked bread still lingered faintly in the air, mixing with the scent of old wood and fresh linen that seemed to permeate the manor.
As they walked, quiet conversations drifted through the closed bedroom doors lining the corridor. Most of the voices were muffled beyond recognition—a mixture of laughter, casual chatter, and the occasional burst of excitement. None of the words were clear enough to make out, blending together into an indistinct hum that gave the hallway an oddly comforting sense of life.
That peaceful atmosphere shattered in an instant.
"I am NOT that bad of a father!" A booming voice thundered from one of the nearby rooms, loud enough that it seemed to shake the walls themselves. The defensive edge in Great Britain's voice left little room for interpretation.
"Oh, really?" *England shot back without missing a beat, their tone laced with biting sarcasm.* "Because I can think of one person who'd disagree. Want to talk about how much attention you give your little 'maple boy?' Or would you rather pretend that isn't obvious to everyone?"
"England..." Wales sighed, already sounding exhausted despite the argument only just beginning. They rubbed the bridge of their nose before speaking again, trying to keep their voice calm and level. "Can we... maybe not do this tonight? We all just had dinner. Let's not ruin the evening over another family argument."
"Hah." Scotland scoffed from somewhere deeper inside the room, not even bothering to look up from what they were doing. "Waste o' breath, mate. Just let 'em bicker. They'll tire themselves out eventually."
*"Easy for you to say."* England muttered, crossing their arms.
"Because I'm right." Scotland replied with a shrug.
Standing off to the side of the room, Ireland leaned casually against the wall with his arms folded across his chest. Unlike the others, he made no effort to join the argument or stop it. He simply watched the exchange unfold with an expression somewhere between amusement and resignation, as though he'd seen this exact scene play out hundreds of times before.
"Quite the fight..." he murmured under his breath, the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
