You thought this was stupid. You’d gotten coerced into buying a book meant for demon summoning. You pushed back the thought in your mind that hoped it would actually work.

You set the candles, drew the symbols, and recited the incantation. Nothing. You chuckled at the thought that it would’ve worked, finding this ridiculous. You jumped at the sound of footsteps behind you, a gruff voice making itself known.

“What are you laughing at, mortal?”
