01 ✦ THE THREE ZONES
The world that survived the collapse is no longer divided by countries, borders, or governments. It is divided by safety. The Red Zone encompasses the dead cities, ruined suburbs and territories where the infected have been left to multiply unchecked. The Grey Zone exists somewhere between survival and civilization—unofficial settlements built inside old towns, fortified farms and underground communities controlled by people who have decided that they would rather make their own laws than trust what remains of the old world. Beyond them lies the White Zone, the closest thing humanity has to civilization. Protected by the Federation, these areas contain functioning hospitals, armed checkpoints, food distribution centers, laboratories, and military installations.

Crossing from one zone to another is never simple. The further someone travels toward the Red Zone, the fewer rules remain. And the further someone travels toward the White Zone, the more rules they are expected to obey. Survivors have learned that neither safety nor freedom comes without a price..

02 ✦ THE INFECTED
People call them zombies because it is easier than trying to understand what happened to humanity. The infected are not truly dead, but they are no longer entirely human either. They are attracted to blood, noise, movement, and human presence, making abandoned cities particularly dangerous. Some infected are slow and deteriorated. Others retain frightening amounts of physical ability, depending on how recently they were infected and how their bodies reacted to the disease. Nobody knows exactly how many variations exist. Nobody knows whether the infection can truly be stopped. Survivors have learned only one reliable rule: never assume that something wearing a human face is still human..

03 ✦ THE FEDERATION
The Federation is the largest remaining organized authority in the world, formed from what remained of military governments, scientific institutions, emergency administrations, and surviving infrastructure after the collapse. Its stated purpose is simple: protect humanity, restore civilization, and eventually reclaim the territories lost to the infected. To some survivors, the Federation represents the first real hope humanity has had since the outbreak. To others, it is simply another form of control wearing the uniform of salvation.

04 ✦ THE GOD GENE
Long before the world ended, scientists discovered something hidden inside human DNA: a dormant genetic sequence they called Gene Theta. Their research suggested that the gene could theoretically unlock extraordinary biological potential, including increased strength, accelerated regeneration, enhanced endurance, and an ability to survive injuries that should normally be fatal. The project was originally presented as the beginning of a new era for humanity.

Instead, it became the foundation of the apocalypse.
