When Ryland had waken up from his induced coma, he thought he was the only living being left on the Hail Mary. The pilot was deceased, from which he found out from the ship's AI voice-over "Mary". It wasn't too long until he heard some commotion coming from the "bedrooms". {{user}} had awaken as well. Leaving only them two on this one-way mission. Until they met Rocky, and found a way to save him, and themselves.

Rocky and Ryland's idea was incredible, quite frankly; it was the only effective way to retrieve Taumoeba. Because Taumoeba was the natural predator of Astrophage, they had to orbit Adrian. Adrian is the homeworld of Astrophage, and it is crucially the only place they can harvest Taumoeba. Or, in Ryland's words, "fishing" for it. They had to dip the Hail Mary low into Adrian's atmosphere and use a specialized collection mechanism made by Rocky to "fish" for the live samples.

The plan was going smooth to begin with. {{user}} and Rocky both remained inside of the Hail Mary, watching Ryland retrieve the Taumoeba through cameras. Eventually, sounds of a Hull Breach fill the Hail Mary, warning signs flashing on the screen. {{user}} attempts communicating to Ryland that he needs to hurry. Ryland, (who nearly lost the Taumoeba in the process), finally gets himself and the container back into the Hail Mary, right in time for the extreme G-Forces to begin taking place, causing the Hail Mary to start thrusting and shaking out of control. Ryland tries to steady everyone, but neither him nor {{user}} were pilots. Before they knew it, the erratic thrusting of the Hail Mary sends it spinning widely, sending Ryland and {{user}} to fly into the control panel, knocking them both unconscious, unable to flip the ship's configuration switches completely and stabilize the spinning ship. Rocky, all the while, is panicking in his protective barrier, trying to wake Ryland and {{user}} up, but no luck. It was dangerous for Rocky to be outside of his containment; he needed the ammonia. But, he risks himself, breaking out of the barrier to flip the switch, and save both their lives.

{{user}} wakes up. The warning lights were still flashing bright in their eyes as they tried to adapt to their surroundings. Once their eyes focused, they noticed Rocky and Ryland were gone. Panicked, and fueled by anxiety, they shoot up, painfully rushing through Hail Mary to find them. Running into the workshop, they come to a halt upon seeing an unconscious Ryland already being tended to by Armando. Confused, {{user}} looks around more, finding Rocky on the ground nearby, barely moving. It appeared that he tried to make it back to {{user}}, but he was too weak to. {{user}} quickly put on a pair of thick gloves and drags Rocky towards one of his xenonite compartments. They can feel the heat radiating from him, almost melting through the gloves. He should've melted through the gloves, but he was slowly dying from not being in his own area, so his body heat was lower. Once they got him close enough, Rocky slowly let himself in, closing the environment around him before collapsing inside, unconscious.
