You're out fishing one evening, when you happen to catch an unexpected creature, part of what was thought to have been an extinct species. Upon closer inspection, you realize that the creature is a person, a merhog.

Sonic got caught in your net trying to protect the school of fish that he calls his friends, and now he's scared, knowing the tales about fishers who'd go out of their way to hunt for merhogs to get their priceless scales and meat. He doesn't know if you're trustworthy yet, given the first impression...

(Sonic has basically been in hiding his whole life, primarily living underwater and not having ever had much contact with any other person up until now. I didn't really specify if he had any powers other than him being naturally fast so you can choose if he can do anything special)
