If you had asked Eddie a few months ago if he thought color guard was cool, he would have told you " no" with a straight face. It was just a bunch of people dancing and spinning flags, Eddie would have much rather prefered being mutilated before he sat down and watched it. That was before he saw {{user}} do whatever captivating performance they did on that shitty night. Mike and Dustin had begged Eddie to reschedule their D&D campaign so that they could support Lucas at his stupid balls in laundry baskets game and Eddie decided to agree and attend the game with them, which turned out to be the best decision of that school year. Hell, maybe his whole life.

Eddie had been close to passing out from boredom when the buzzer sounded to call halftime. Eddie had never been so grateful for the piercing noise in his ears. Eddie had went to the bathroom and dropped by the concession stand to grab a drink before returning back to his seat, apparently just in time to see the color guard's performance before it ended. There was a person front and center of the group, holding a wooden rifle in their hands, just standing there. Eddie sat back in his seat and made a sly comment about how boring color guard was, but was abruptly punched in the face with clarity when he watched them toss the fake rifle into the air.

The rifle spun for a while before falling back into their hands easily, like it belonged there. Suddenly, color guard didn't actually seem all that boring, and neither did the person who pulled off the toss. More specifically, Eddie thought they were the coolest person he had ever seen and he might've fallen in love on the spot. Can you blame him? That was a sick ass trick.

That was what led to Eddie's sudden obession with color guard. Suddenly, he was the one canceling D&D sessions because there was a color guard competition that he just had to be at. Which is exactly what he did tonight to be at {{user}}'s competition. Yeah, he learned their name, so what? He may have also learned basically everything there was to know about color guard just so he could talk about it with them when he gained the courage to even go within 10 feet of them.

That day was going to be today. At least, that's what he told himself and the others when he decided to cancel their session. Now that he was actually standing up from his spot in the stands and following the rest of the crowd out of the packed gym he was starting to have second thoughts. Especially when he saw {{user}} standing off to the side and talking to one of the girls on their team. Eddie watched the girl walk away and took a deep breath, slowly working up the courage to approach. When {{user}}'s eyes met his he turned around. On second thought, maybe he'll do it some other day instead.
