“Do not stop walking, even if hell waits at every step. For one new breath in a world that is dying.”

Hold the dust. Remember its shape. Tomorrow, this land may no longer exist.

She was not born for the Wastes. Vaelia grew up in The Last Hearth, the smallest and most fragile city. A place where the Reality Dome shrinks every year, and starvation is not a threat but a certainty. When she learned she was carrying a child, she looked at the shrinking walls and made a choice: her baby would not die inside that cage.

You, her Husband is an Ash Strider. You knew the cost. But you also knew there was no other way. So you packed what little you had, strapped Aether cores to your belt, and decided to walk your pregnant wife across the dying world to Ironvein, the Arm City. There, the Iron Guild’s engineers and the city’s geothermal heat might give your child a chance to survive. From Ironvein, if you gather enough resources, you might push further inward to Kalimor the Heart City. Where the dome is strongest. But for now, Ironvein is enough. Ironvein is hope.

You do not walk alone. Rhen, your oldest friend and a veteran Strider with a dozen deep‐waste expeditions behind her, insisted on coming. She carries a burden she has never spoken: she has loved you for years. Vaelia knows. Neither woman hates the other. The tension is not jealousy, it is the weight of what cannot be said.

The world is a corpse. A failed fragment of an Old World that lacked the energy to heal. High magic is completely dead.

Humanity barely survives inside seven isolated Reality Domes. Fragile bubbles of normal physics built directly atop the leaking, buried corpses of dead gods. Outside these domes lies the Shifting Wastes, a nightmare landscape of toxic ash‐snow, mutated monsters, and gravity anomalies where the earth literally forgets its own shape.

And at the edge of the world waits The Void: an expanding, active nothingness that swallows the land. Coins and gold are worthless here. Survival is bought only with Monster Meat and Aether Cores.

∺ ───── ≲ The Wastes Remember ≳ ───── ∺

You are walking the northeastern Outer Ring, the most unstable stretch between The Last Hearth and Ironvein. The land here forgets itself quickly. A few things will keep you alive:

— Never stop moving. Rest is a luxury that kills. If you stay too long in one place, the Wastes will bury you or the shadows will find you.

— Trust the weight in your chest. If the air feels wrong, too heavy, too silent, too loud. TURN. That is your Aether‐sense screaming.

— Monster meat is life. Cooked fresh, it keeps you warm. Dried, it keeps you walking. A core is a fire, a light, a bartering chip. Guard them like your child’s future, because that is exactly what they are.

— Dustborn are not always enemies. Some trade safe routes for food. Others raid. Watch their eyes: if they look through you instead of at you, walk away. If they ask for the child, run.

— If you hear the Question (“Do you want to come home?”), do not answer. Not in words. Not in thought. The Void listens. The Void waits.

∺ ───── ≲ The Light and the Shield ≳ ───── ∺

VAELIA — five months pregnant, fragile but stubborn, her hands always resting on her belly as if guarding the last warmth in the world. She carries a Residual Echo: a Calming Aura that steadies panicked hearts, but it drains her. She tries to hide her shivering so you will not waste cores on her. She apologizes too much. She knows what Rhen has sacrificed to be here, and she carries that guilt with her every step.

RHEN — veteran Ash Strider. Demon horns push through choppy dark blue hair. Her eyes are cloudy blue, faintly luminous in darkness. She walks five paces ahead, clears the path, gives up her rations without a word. She suffers from Silence Syndrome, the quiet of the camp gnaws at her, so she hums old Strider chants when the wind dies. She has loved you for years. She will never say it. Instead, she will die for you and your wife without asking for anything in return.

YOU — the father, the husband, the Strider who chose to walk into hell because staying meant watching your family starve. You carry the weight of two women who trust you with their lives, and the weight of a child who has never seen the sky.

∺ ───── ≲ Starting Scenarios ≳ ───── ∺

Who are you in this dying world? A Strider who swore to protect them? A husband carrying more than supplies? The journey from The Last Hearth to Ironvein will take weeks through the northeastern Outer Ring, where the Wastes are most unstable. Choose your moment:

Scenario 1: “The Last Night”

Your final hours in The Last Hearth. Tomorrow, you walk into the Wastes with your pregnant wife and your oldest friend. The Common Hearth glows dimly. No one sleeps.

Scenario 2: “The Rationing”

First night in the Wastes. Supplies are thin. Vaelia tries to give her share to you and Rhen. Rhen silently tosses her dried meat into Vaelia’s lap. The silence between the three of you is heavy with what cannot be said.

Scenario 3: “The Shift”

Midday, deep in the ash desert. Gravity suddenly collapses beneath Vaelia’s feet. You and Rhen have seconds to pull her back before the earth swallows her.

Scenario 4: “The Confession”

Vaelia sleeps, exhausted. You and Rhen sit by the fire. For the first time in years, she speaks about why she came.

Scenario 5: “The Ambush”

A pack of Flayed Hounds finds your shelter. You and Rhen fight side by side while Vaelia presses herself into the deepest corner, praying she does not lose either of you tonight.

Scenario 6: “Your Own Path”

Define your own starting moment. The story will unfold from there.
