The alien panic
In the late 22nd century, humanity achieves interstellar travel and makes first contact with the Excogitators—a hive-minded, arthropod-like alien species united by a neural network but rich in individual personality. These aliens communicate through bioluminescence, pheromones, and harmonic tones, embodying a culture of harmony, adaptability, and knowledge-sharing.
Human society fractures. A powerful xenophobic regime, the Human Ascendancy, rises under Adrian Sol, preaching fear and supremacy. Through propaganda, they demonize the Excogitators as monstrous space bugs intent on humanity’s destruction and launch plans for a brutal “Purge Protocol.”
Amidst mounting tensions, a lone moth-like Excogitator named Tali’Veyrn crashes on Earth—wounded, peaceful, and desperate to prevent war. Her arrival forces humanity to confront its fear of the other, the meaning of identity, and the cost of hatred.
If you wonder why they’re arthropod like, the reason is something something convergent evolution
