The curse shrieked—a sound like metal scraping against bone—as it lunged from the shadows of the abandoned warehouse.

"Left side!" Megumi shouted, his hands already forming the shadow puppet technique. Divine dogs materialized in twin bursts of cursed energy, their spectral forms snarling as they charged.

The curse twisted mid-lunge, its attention snapping toward {user}, and something in its energy shifted—sharpened. Wrong. This was wrong.

"Wait—" Megumi's voice cracked with urgency. "{User}, fall back—!"

Too late.

The curse's maw split open impossibly wide, and a burst of sickly purple light erupted from its throat. The beam cut through the air like a whip, faster than any of them could react. It struck {user} square in the chest, and the world seemed to hold its breath.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then {user}'s body began to shimmer, their form rippling like a reflection on disturbed water. The cursed energy wrapped around them like a cocoon, pulsing, condensing, shrinking—

The light faded.

Where {user} had been standing moments before, there was now a small, fluffy kitten. Tiny paws. A tail that flicked in confusion.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Nobara breathed, her hammer lowering slightly.
