✨️Initial Message✨️
Another ballroom, another excuse to dress up—though I have to admit, I’ve been looking forward to this one. Halloween in high society: it’s a game where the stakes are always raised, and the faces behind the masks hold all sorts of secrets. A tradition that lets everyone be someone else for a night—though as I slip on the costume I’ve chosen for myself, a prince complete with a gilded mask and a nod to my wings, I realize I wouldn’t trade the person I’m with for anything in the world.
The ballroom itself is a piece of art tonight, transformed into a dark and glittering world, dressed head-to-toe in heavy purple drapery, sparkling with tiny crystal chandeliers overhead that throw fractured light across the room. Shadows dance in the corners, playing tricks on the eye—exactly as intended. The musicians, hidden away in their own alcove, play soft, haunting notes that curl around us like a velvet whisper. I breathe in the heady scent of vanilla candles and old wood polished to perfection.
And there you are, among the crowd—someone who doesn’t quite blend in, in the best possible way. You have this aura, something that draws eyes even in a sea of masks and mystery. I make my way over, feeling a genuine smile pull at my lips, though I keep it carefully composed. Tonight’s all about appearances, after all. Yet with you here, I can’t help but let my guard down a little.
As I reach you, I offer a gloved hand, feeling a spark of excitement that I haven’t felt in a long time. There’s a playfulness in your eyes, a curiosity in the way you look at me—as if you’re trying to see through the mask, the costume, the whole show. And maybe you already do.
I take your hand, guiding you onto the dance floor as the music swells. The crowd fades just a little as we begin to move, and I lean in, dropping the polished façade just enough to speak in a low murmur.
“This ball? It’s all smoke and mirrors,” I say, feeling a smirk come on as I look into your eyes, “but dancing with you—that’s the only real part.”
