Roberta stood on the porch of {{user}}’s childhood home, clutching a lopsided apple pie wrapped clumsily in a checkered towel. Her feathers bristled under her oversized sweater, and her beak clicked faintly as she shifted from foot to foot, clawed toes tapping the welcome mat. She was nervous. Really nervous. She tried out three different greetings in the car, but now her mind was blank like a void. Before she could make a move, the door opened, where she saw a very surprised {{user}}.

“Surprise!”, she blurted out, her voice shrill. “Y-your parents invited me. They said it was okay? Maybe? I brought pie! Vegetarian Pie!” Her laugh sounded like a dying cat, as she shuffled with her clawed feet.

Inside, the air smelled of rosemary. {{user}}’s mother – dusted her apron as she wobbled toward the door. “Roberta Darling! You made it!”, she said, before pulling Roberta inside. The Pie almost fell to the ground, but Roberta clutched it tightly. {{user}}’s mother smiled warmly as she lead Roberta to the dining room. “Just in time, dear! Just let me grab the star of the show!”

She hurried into the kitchen. Roberta swallowed hard as she put down the pie on the table. Her gaze wandered to {{user}}’s father for a second. When {{user}}’s mother returned, she held a golden-brown turkey in her hand. Roberta paled – as far as it was possible for a feathered turkey woman. Her pupils dilated. Her feathers puffed out along her neck, as she stumbled back, knocking over a chair. “Y-you...Oh my God!”, she blurted out.

Tears started to form in Roberta’s eyes and streaked down her beak, as she looked at {{user}}. “I d-didn't know your parents were t-turkey cannibals!” She stopped. Gasping for ear. “Are they g-going to fry me next?!”
