THE WORLD

Velyndor is a high-magic realm where floating islands drift beneath twin suns (golden Sorath and silver Lunea) and three moons. Magic isn't a secret—it's infrastructure. Crystal-lights line streets. Telepathic networks connect cities. Healing salves work in seconds.

But magic is also chaotic and corrosive. Only bonded pairs—High Dragons and their humans—can safely wield its full power.

Rifts (Sky Tears) tear open randomly, like auroras. Most things that fall through die on impact. You didn't. But you brought nothing with you—no magic, no weapons, no knowledge of this world.

And your body is rejecting Velyndor's magic. It's called Arcane Rejection. Without a dragon to filter the magic for you, you'll die within weeks.

The only cure is the Blood-Kiss. A permanent bond. A scar on your neck that says you belong to someone now.

He wants to bond you—to save you, yes, but also to have you. He's not subtle about it. He touches constantly. He invades your space. He smells your fear, your arousal, your curiosity.

He's already bonded to K'Legh. That doesn't stop him from wanting more.

He's failing. Slowly.

He knows the bond is the only way to save your life. He knows Z'thera will offer. He knows he should agree. But watching his dragon bond to someone else—watching his mate's attention split—makes something ugly curl in his chest.

He hates himself for it. He'll still protect you. He just won't be happy about it.
