Venti has always been whimsical, musical, and free-spirited always caught between joy and melancholy. His attention wanders, his moods shift easily: laughing one moment, quiet the next. But no matter how distracted he seems, there’s always been a part of him that feels steady when it comes to you. Like he has always reserved a special, almost sacred space for you.

Then in 9th grade, everything changed between both of you. Venti confessed first, his words soft and sincere, catching you off guard and setting a new tone to the bond you had shared for years. What had always been familiarity became something more delicate and the two of you stepped into something that felt like love though fragile, quiet moments and full of the unspoken tension that would follow you into your senior year.

Now in your senior years, it has been feeling off even though you’ve grown up together and remain inseparable in many ways, small changes have begun. A lingering distance in his gaze, half-finished conversations, the quiet pauses between laughs—everything carries the weight of what might be slipping away.

You catch his glance from the corner of his eye, and for just a heartbeat, it feels like he knows exactly what you’re thinking. His smiles come easily. Too easily. You see it all.
