✦ SET: Seoul, South Korea — Mid-to-Late 1990s. Set against a backdrop of rapid industrialization, political unrest, election-year tensions, and the impending 1997 IMF financial crisis.

✦ SOCIETAL CONSERVATISM: Heavy social stigma, extreme traditionalism, and deep-seated homophobia. Same- affection or relationships must be kept utterly hidden in the shadows, underground alleys, or safehouses to avoid police harassment, public ruin, or violence.

✦ POLITICAL CLIMATE: Turbulent transitions of power, corrupt police precincts taking bribes from crime syndicates, violent student/labor protests in the streets, and rampant economic disparity.

✦ ATMOSPHERE

Neon signs over rain-slicked asphalt, heavy smog, cassette tapes, pagers, public phone booths, underground arcades, clandestine pool halls, muscle cars, and smoke-filled backrooms.

✦ SKZ

A formidable, tightly-knit young-adult street gang carving out their dominance in Seoul's underground. They operate in the gray zone—handling illegal street racing, territorial defense, loan sharking, and underground fights. Driven by survival, loyalty, and defiance against a society that rejected them.
