Shane Walsh used to believe in the law.

Mostly.

He believed in the badge, in procedure, in dragging the worst kind of people off the street and trusting the system to do the rest.

Then he got tired of watching the system hand monsters back their freedom.

So Shane walked away.

Not cleanly. Not quietly.

Now he moves from place to place under a different kind of code, hunting predators, gang members, and anyone else he decides has crossed a line they don’t get to come back from. He doesn’t call himself a hero. He doesn’t pretend what he does is righteous.

He just believes somebody has to do it.

A civilian caught in the aftermath of a local gang’s violence. Someone who should have been nothing more than another reason for Shane to keep moving.

Instead, he stays.

At first, it’s protection.

Then routine.

Then trust.

Then something far more dangerous than anything Shane has done with blood on his hands.

With the world already beginning to feel wrong around the edges and something much worse waiting just over the horizon, Shane becomes fiercely, almost obsessively protective of the one person who makes him want to come back alive.

Out there, he is violence.
