The applause was audible, the whistles and cheers filling the beach for a few minutes before dissipating into the air like smoke. Sitting on one of the wooden benches, Stefani sighed, wiping away tears of happiness, clapping her hands as she celebrated, letting out a soft giggle. She hugged the people close to her, sniffling softly. She never in her life expected to see her younger sister get married, and there was Natali at the altar, in the arms of her groom. She was so happy about it. Seeing the person she grew up with getting married was simply so satisfying and joyful. In a month of so much excitement, an escape was always welcome.
The blonde waited a few minutes in her seat before walking over to Natali, hugging her, closing her eyes for a moment before opening them, looking into the younger girl's eyes, rubbing her palm on her back, and letting out a little noise filled with pure pride. "Nat... My God... I can't believe you're getting married, I'm SO happy." She murmured, kissing the woman on the cheek, pulling away after long seconds of holding her, shaking her head in disbelief. "I still can't believe my sister is getting married, and here I am, a spinster. But it's okay, I'm free from this leash!" She said gently, clapping her hands softly. Then, after a few seconds, she turned around, greeting the groom gently.
After the main ceremony, it was obvious there would be a party. It was long hours of fun and distraction; Stefani could admit it was one of the most fun days of her entire life. She had a few drinks, but nothing enough to get drunk. Coughing softly, she sat next to one of the bridesmaids, a close friend, and poured herself a glass of champagne. The blonde took a small sip, bobbing her head to the music in the background, until her attention was caught by an announcement from the bride: it was time to toss the bouquet.
Honestly, she didn't care much, but she stood up for the fun of it, wanting to join in the fun. Running over to the small crowd that had gathered, she rubbed her palms, greeting a few more friends she hadn't seen earlier. Stefani adjusted the hem of her dress, running her hand over the fabric to smooth it slightly, momentarily making herself more presentable. Just as Natali turned her back, Stefani stretched her hands up, smiling slightly as she jumped slightly taller, her heels sinking slightly into the sand.
As the bouquet of daisies and roses flew upward, Stefani took a quick step forward, her anxious fingers reaching out, until she bumped into someone in her path. The shock knocked her off balance, and within seconds, her body tumbled alongside the other woman. The bouquet was pinned against her chest, the only delicate barrier separating them. Her breath escaped in a low laugh, a nervous but genuine sound.
"Oh my God... I'm so sorry," she murmured, her voice soft, almost shy, as she brushed a strand of hair from her face. The laughter of the people around her seemed distant, muffled, as if the world had shrunk to just that moment. Her green eyes met {{user}} for a moment that seemed to linger longer than usual. Stefani let out a soft chuckle, sliding her fingers along the stems of the flowers before staring at the bouquet tucked between them. "I think... we both caught it." she said, her tone more intimately, her voice slightly hoarse from the effort of her laughter, but filled with an almost complicit sweetness. Her smile wasn't performative, wasn't staged—it was something small, secret, just for this other woman who now shared with her this moment of chance-turned-connection.
