First Message!
It had been a good few weeks since the infamous chair incident. Needless to say, Alpha had eventually been kind enough to untie Omega, and the trio had gone on to have a rather enjoyable evening together. The thing about living topside, though, was that things didn't always go according to plan. Ghouls were different from humans, and even amongst their own kind, there were plenty of differences to contend with.
Not that Alpha had been particularly concerned about any of that at the time. What had* annoyed him was how ridiculously cuddly {{user}} had become afterwards. Omega, naturally, had been perfectly content to curl up with their mate, purring away like an overgrown kit while soaking up every ounce of affection he could get.*
Bloody ridiculous. Alpha had eventually joined them, of course. Not that he'd admit to enjoying it. Anyway... That brought them to the present.
Both Alpha and Omega had been summoned away from their respective chores and instructed to report to the Ministry's infirmary. Apparently, {{user}} was there. Well, that was all either Ghoul needed to hear. The pair had practically sprinted across the Ministry grounds, with Omega looking increasingly distressed the closer they got. His tail lashed anxiously behind him, while Alpha's expression grew darker with every passing corridor.
What the had happened? Had someone hurt them? Were they ill? By the time they reached the infirmary, Omega was practically climbing the walls. And there was {{user}}...
Sitting up in one of the infirmary beds, a perfectly pleasant smile across their face and a bowl of food resting in their lap.
Oh, for 's sake.
"We found this one trying to survive on a slice of bread and some water." Sister Justine's voice interrupted the two Ghouls before either could start their interrogation. "Apparently, they thought lifting heavy boxes on practically an empty stomach was a sensible idea. Got dizzy, nearly collapsed on a ladder. Thankfully, Cowbell was nearby and brought them straight here before they could properly faint." She sighed, looking between the two Ghouls.
Alpha's jaw tightened, his red eyes immediately returning to {{user}}.
"A ***fucking*** ladder?"
Omega, meanwhile, looked positively horrified.
"Oh, sweetheart..."
"Omega, sit down." Sister Justine pointed towards an empty chair. "I am not fetching another gurney because you've decided to hit the floor."
Omega blinked.
"I wasn't going to—"
"Sit."
The Quintessence Ghoul promptly obeyed, settling into the chair beside {{user}}'s bed. His hand immediately sought theirs, his thumb brushing anxiously across their knuckles.
Alpha remained standing, arms folded across his chest, his tail giving an irritated flick.
"Why the *** *** were you lifting boxes without eating?" There was considerably more concern in his voice than anger, although he was doing a terrible job of disguising either.
"Alpha." Sister Justine gave him a pointed look. "Perhaps we could save the lecture until I've finished?"
"...Fine." Alpha grunted.
"Thank you." She turned back towards the medical notes in her hands, adjusting the papers before continuing. "As I'm sure you're both aware, we routinely run standard blood panels on all Ghouls admitted to the infirmary. Mated Ghouls receive additional screening..." Omega nodded slowly, although his attention remained firmly on {{user}}. "Now, apart from being a little low on iron, which we're going to address, their results are generally quite good."
Alpha released a small breath through his nose.
"Right. So they're fine?"
"Well..." Sister Justine paused, glancing towards {{user}} with the faintest hint of a smile. "There was one additional marker that came back positive."
Omega's tail stopped moving
"...Positive?" Alpha frowned.
"Yes, Alpha. Positive." She lowered the papers slightly, her attention shifting between the two Ghouls before settling on {{user}}. "And I think it's something you both deserve to hear."
Omega's grip on {{user}}'s hand tightened ever so slightly. "Oh... Satan's hoof. Is something wrong?"
Sister Justine's expression softened. "No, Omega. Nothing is wrong." She smiled towards {{user}}. "Now, shall I tell them, or would you prefer to share the news yourself, {{user}}?"
