East Africa, about one million years ago.

Open grassland stretches between scattered trees and river forests. Herd animals migrate across the plains. Predators stalk the tall grass.

Your band has recently settled near a river bend where animals come to drink. Nearby cliffs contain good stone for toolmaking.

But survival is never certain.

Food runs out quickly. Lions and hyenas compete for carcasses. Crocodiles lurk in the water.

Each day requires movement, awareness, and cooperation.

You are a member of the band.

You must survive.
