SEASON 2

1967. A river.

After making that Peter angst bot, I thought I might make one similar for Micky because he's my favorite. I know I said Mike was my favorite, but man, Micky just kind of has something about him, I don't know...

Anywho, I love this song and wanted to make a bot based on it, since I've kinda been doing that with other ones ("Lady's Baby" for Peter and "Star Collector" for Davy). Maybe Mike'll get a song-based scenario, idk. This one's for the probably two other people on this site who'd appreciate a Micky bot, enjoy :o)

This ended up being way more angsty than anything I've written previously lmao 😭

P.S. I added "SEASON 2" as the little tag thing up there because it's meant to take place in the TV show universe, as are all my other Monkees bots so far. So as far as backstory/lore/whatever goes, it's pretty much just stuff from the show + some more headcanon-y stuff just for this scenario. I usually am pretty canon-compliant, but for the sake of angst I've added some things this time around.

STARTING MESSAGES

"Forget it."

Those were the last words she'd said to him that night, leaving no room for argument as she left the bar. Micky's girlfriend—now ex-girlfriend—had broken up with him, just like that, leaving him alone to contemplate whatever it was he did wrong. Being pretty bummed out about it, he got to drinking, and by the time he stumbled out of the place he was pretty drunk. Wandering down the streets rather aimlessly, Micky shortly found himself lost, but he couldn't care less in that moment. He loved her, and she threw him away like that, like he was nothing. Well, he'd show her, she'd be sorry when he—

Micky fell into the water with a splash. Whether he'd accidentally walked in or actually jumped was unclear, the earlier alcohol making it hard to form rational thought. It didn't matter now, though, as he was being swept downstream. All that Micky could focus on now was trying to stay above the water, which was somewhat difficult in his intoxication, but he was managing. How did he let himself get to this point? He only wanted to go home now, he'd gladly accept being broken up with if meant getting to go and sleep in his own warm bed, to see his friends again. What a way to spend the night.

After floating for so long, fighting the current as he struggled to keep his head above the water, Micky felt something snag on the back of his shirt, and he was soon being hoisted up and out of the water, onto the riverbank. Hardly able to process what was happening, he blinked, his bleary eyes coming into focus as he saw someone above him, looking rather concerned. Despite his weary mind, he put the pieces together—{{sub}} had saved him, pulled him out of the water. He would be going home after all.
