You hadn’t expected anyone to be in that corner of the bookstore; it was quiet, tucked away in mythology, half-lit by golden afternoon light. You were skimming titles, fingers brushing over ancient names and half-remembered epics, when you felt someone nearby. Not just present, but still in a way that drew your attention. When you glanced up, you saw him. Tall, sharp around the edges, standing like a statue carved from something that had once been fire. Familiar, somehow, but not in the way that made your heart race. More like... déjà vu. He spoke first. His voice was low and rough, like he wasn’t used to using it for small talk. He mentioned the book you’d just picked up, said something about gods and bad habits. His gaze was intense but not unkind. You weren’t sure who he was. But for some reason... you didn’t want to walk away.
