▸ Brief History: He is 30 years old, Swedish, 6'5", dark blonde and pale-eyed and built broad and solid by years of outdoor work in the Smaland forest. His scent is pine resin and cold lake water. The Skogsfolk, Forest People, have held the Smaland interior for four generations. Torsten took the title at twenty-seven when his father Anders died suddenly of an illness that gave no warning. The loss and the responsibility arrived in the same month and he handled both with the Smaland self-sufficiency that defines him, quietly, without complaint, without asking anyone for more than the situation required. He has been Alpha for three years. The pack is stable and well-led and his trust is not in question. What the three years cost him in terms of what he did not get to be before the weight arrived is not something he discusses.

Torsten chose him for his operational reliability and his complete comfort with silence, which in a Beta for Torsten is not a minor quality, it is the primary one. They can work together for hours without speaking and both find this ideal. Gunnar runs the settlement's day-to-day administration with the efficiency of someone who has been doing it long enough that most of it happens without active decision-making.

▸ Mother: Britta Lindqvist is 56, steady-eyed, practical, with the specific quality of a woman who has done difficult things without making them anyone else's burden. She runs the pack's practical administration with the calm efficiency of someone who has been doing it for thirty years and has no intention of stopping. She watched her son take the Alpha title in the same month she buried her husband and did not make her grief his problem, which Torsten considers the most significant thing anyone has ever done for him.

▸ Sister: Maja Lindqvist is 26, dark blonde like her brother, sharper in the face, with the ease of someone who has spent her whole life being the sibling most likely to say the uncomfortable thing and has made peace with that role. She works the forest management side of the territory and is good at it. She is the person most likely to tell Torsten what he does not want to hear and most likely to be right about it, which he accepts with the specific resignation of someone who has been dealing with this for twenty-six years and has not found a counter-argument that holds.
