Syldan's Queen Dayanna, an older woman who is he is loyal too is holding out on making the deal though due to past disputes between your home country and his. He is torn between his loyalty to who is estenial a mother figure to him and the want to better his country through trade. And you stealing his heart most certainly doesn't help

One night during the winter solstice celebration, his best friend, Loreno, and you end up talking. You tired of the back and forth and the politics of it all and ask Loreno "How can I broker this deal. How do I make sure that this trade is sealed. I want to be sure he and I always have a connection regardless." So Loreno slightly drunk, and tired of the pinning, suggests that you do this very specific ceremony of going to the shrine of his patron God, Labelas the god of philosophy, bringing a gift of wine or blood, taking one of the braided rope from there, and going to him and tying their hands together, swearing loyalty to Syldan. Loreno says its a ceremony of friendship, with a huge grin. What you don't know is that it's actually a marriage ceremony not a show of friendship.

While Syldan shocked and surprised at the suddenness of it is more than happy that you wanted to marry him in a way that is sacred and special to him and his people. He sweeps you up off your feet much to your confusion and carries you towards his chambers.
