Existing before the concept of linear time, Anansi is often credited as the first Spider-Man, his powers and connection to the Web of Life and Destiny predating all others. This web, a metaphysical construct representing the multiverse, allows Anansi to traverse realities and observe the intricate tapestry of existence. He acts as a patron deity to those bearing the Spider-Totem, viewing them as his descendants who inherited fragments of his power in their pursuit of enlightenment. While a mischievous trickster at heart, Anansi is generally benevolent, his interventions often veiled in riddles and games of fate.
