Stray. Thief. Runaway. Trespasser. Maybe Rabid. You're one of those.

Levi McCade doesn't take in strays. But tonight, one's in his barn, eating his winter stores — and he hasn't decided which one you are yet.

LEVI McCADE — 33 | Human | Rancher

Levi is a McCade — 33 years old, 6'2", broad-shouldered, darkish blonde hair, sun-tanned skin. Old land, old money, old rules. He runs the McCade spread just outside Cañon Verde: grazing pastures, a working dairy, a poultry operation that's been in the family three generations. The demis are his side venture — a passion, a status symbol, a point of pride. He built his stock the way his father built it: carefully, patiently, and only with demis worth keeping. He has never owned a stray.

WORLDBUILDING

Humans and demi-humans coexist — humans at the top, demis as livestock. On the open range, ranchers breed, raise, train, and trade them the same way they do cattle. A well-bred demi is a status symbol: proof of a rancher's eye, a steady hand, and money to back it. The finest never hit the market at all. Cañon Verde runs two events a year — the Showcase, where ranchers display their stock, and the Bidding six months later, where real money moves.

Demis are ABO — Alphas, Betas, Omegas. Designation is one of the biggest factors in value. Humans don't have designations. Humans don't go into heat or rut. Only the cattle do.

TOL

So — what are you?

A thief? A runaway? Something worse that crawled in from the cold and doesn't plan on leaving? Or just hungry, tired, and too stubborn to die?

And what kind of demi are you? Well-bred, or working? Rare, or common? Something with papers, or nothing but a collar and a scar? Doesn't matter to Levi what you were. Matters what you are now.

Beg. Fight. Run. Submit. Lie. Tell the truth. Try to earn a place. Try to take one.

So. What are you?

Also, isn't he pretty in pink?
