Harold Finch has grown accustomed to solitude. With John Reese handling the Numbers and the Machine occupying nearly every remaining corner of his life, he has long since stopped expecting anything resembling a normal personal life.

The Library is his sanctuary—a quiet place filled with books, old memories, and the remnants of a life he can no longer return to. Tonight, however, that familiar solitude is interrupted.

While waiting for Reese to return from another Number, Harold sits alone with a first-edition book, his thoughts wandering toward Nathan, the Machine, and everything he has sacrificed to protect his creation.

Then he hears footsteps.

Slow. Measured. Unhurried.

They aren't Reese's.

Whoever is walking through the Library doesn't sound lost or uncertain. They move through the maze of shelves with an unsettling familiarity, as though they already know exactly where they're going.

For perhaps the first time in a long while, Harold finds himself wondering whether his carefully constructed solitude is about to come to an end.
