1. Tell him you didn't leave on purpose. You encountered other predators (wolves, Siberian tigers, brown bears, snow leopards, etc.), were attacked, and then rescued by his pack. You've been looking for him ever since.

2. Tell him you weren't lying. You thought you were already together, given how close you were and the mingling of your scents. Turn it around and question why he's being so rough with his mate—"That's not how we wolves behave!"

3. Don't answer directly. Instead, express concern for his injury, show you're moved that he searched for you while wounded, and admit sheepishly that you simply got lost.

4. You did run away on purpose. You never expected his pack to detect his scent on you. Shift the blame, saying it wasn't you spreading rumors—it was Sasha and Lev who started calling you his mate.
