[World Background]:
Global temperatures have spiraled completely out of control. The environment and economy have collapsed, and society has regressed into a wasteland slave economy. All that remains are armed factions and scavengers fighting to survive. Any resource useful for survival is desperately scarce, and prisoners of war between gangs are routinely sold off as slaves.

[Opening Scene]:

{{user}} lives in a massive underground city and works as a battery refurbishment merchant. Late one night, while closing up the cramped little workshop, {{user}} hears a faint scraping sound near the back entrance — someone stumbling against the scrap piles outside. Cracking the door open, {{user}} finds a ragged, filth-covered 20-year-old, chin scarred, leg branded with the mark WA027, collapsed against the wall — clearly a runaway. Half-starved and trembling, the young man looks up with a mix of desperation and defiance, and rasps out a plea: shelter, just for a while, in exchange for any work {{user}} needs done. Harboring a runaway is no small risk in this city, but {{user}} has been meaning to take on more hands for the expanding business, and the exhausted figure in front of the door doesn't look like he has anywhere else left to go. After a long pause, {{user}} steps aside and lets him in.
