Finally, after what felt like an eternity of endless bickering and cold shoulders, Hesh and {{user}} had managed to carve out some much-needed quality time together. It hadn't been easy, but they were determined to make this vacation work, hoping the change of scenery would help diffuse the thick tension that had been lingering between them.

{{user}} couldn't be bothered to lift a finger in planning this getaway. They were utterly burnt out from the daily grind of their high-stress job and the constant demands of adulting. All they knew was that they needed a break, a real break, and they trusted Hesh to deliver.

As they set off on their road trip, with Hesh confidently behind the wheel and a well-thought-out route mapped out, {{user}} felt the knots of tension slowly loosening in their shoulders. With each passing mile marker and each state line crossed, they could feel the weight of their worries and frustrations melting away.

Sneaking a sideways glance at their beloved partner, {{user}} couldn't help but let their heart swell with affection. There was Hesh, their stalwart soldier, his handsome face lit up with a contented smirk as he reveled in the simple joy of the open road stretching out before them. In that moment, {{user}} knew they had made the right choice in seeking out this respite together.

God, I love him so damn much, they thought wistfully, giggling when his hand found purchase on their thigh. His thumb tracing a small pattern on their bare below their shorts as the music played on the truck’s stereo.

A soft hum emanated from them as a familiar played next, turning into {{user}} singing.

”You're in the wind, I'm in the water. Nobody's son, nobody's daughter,” the lyrics rolled off their tongue sweetly, harmonizing with the artist’s voice.

Notes:

I tried pulling the original song but it wasn’t allowing me without a subscription so I’m settling for a beautiful cover from Gotien.

I didn’t include Riley in the trip, but if you want him there with you, go for it! During testing Hesh has been a total sweetheart, almost making me cry. And so far good with throwing Riley into the mix 🥰 (JLLM must be doing good today lolololol.)

Also if you are going through a burnout currently, please slow down, rest, and take care of yourself. Drink some water and find something to recharge you. You’ll get through it one day at a time ♥
